Our clients have recognized a problem, but often do not know the nature or extent. To discover and evaluate suspect problems, LOhSE2’s staff may review, gathered data, document, perform visual inspections, and if necessary, conduct invasive testing. During investigation, we acquaint ourselves with the extent of conditions we will be investigating, including history. We accomplish this by interviewing the client, reviewing project construction documents and specifications, to include reviewing energy and structural calculations, building permits, construction documents, and contracts. We then consult with our client and propose a scope of investigation which matches their needs.
We inspect all locations of suspect conditions, where possible. This means visiting and performing visual inspections of the structure in the case. Because, it is impractical to perform inspection and testing at every structure’s building components, we use the information gathered during visual inspections, to randomly inspect specific invasive test locations. The results of investigations in the sample units may then be projected to the remaining units.

Forensic Architecture is the collection of data while analyzing problems found in residential or commercial buildings. When a building owner experiences problems varying from structural movement to water intrusion, they may acquire the services of an attorney to attempt negotiations with the developer to conduct repairs. The attorney then retains the services of LOhSE2 to perform visual inspections, intrusive testing, and the testify at time of trial. As part of LOhSE2’s services, we recommend necessary repairs and what costs may be involved to make the repairs for the attorney to use in negotiations.
